Patrick Girod
Patrick GIROD, born in 1957, France. During the early stages of his art career he painted "quietly" and successfully balanced his devotion to painting and fulfilling his other responsibilites to work-outside of painting and to his family. In 2001, he suffered an accident that caused illness that stopped his activities, physically, mentally and needless to say, artistically. Several months of rehabilitation and a great desire to live and return to the easel conquered the threat to death. Upon his return to painting he moved away from figurative painting as he then felt that nature was too beautiful to try to imitate it. His work moved to its essential - two, three or four colors on a white background, drawing and defining the shape of what he considers being alive. His works reflect sincerity and sensitivity to life. His primitive-abstract style of painting takes the viewer beyond the initial simplicity of line and minimal color to a creative thought provoking depth. Girod paints according to his own sensibilities and challenges his viewers to delve into emotion and reflection. Girod is an emerging self-taught artist with a promising future. He has exhibited in galleries in France, Switzerland, and Italy. In early 2009, he will re-launch a project for the Biennale of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.
In the USA, Girod exhibits at the Agorra Gallery in Chelsea, New York and is exclusively being presented in Florida at the Jo-Gi Gallery in Naples.
