Sergio Estrada Valadez
Born in Mexico in 1943. 1973 Became a permanent resident of France
Studied four years at l'Ecole Nationale d'Arts Plastiques de Mexico.
In 1967 Sergio took a voyage to France and knew that someday it would become his home. For over thirty years, he has walked the French streets, subways, bistros observing the French life through his Hispanic eyes.
Jean-Luc Balma states "Sergio Valadez is a cowboy without a horse, a Mexican without a hat, a hoover of life and a fabulous painter."
He skillfully and creatively manipulates color, form and perspective in his paintings to manifest the ideals of French life and culture. Though the subjects are French from the Notre Dame to the bistros, his works are rendered in a style influenced by his native Mexico. His works have been praised by many critics, including Patrice de la Perriere, Chief Editor of Univers des Arts. Critics and the public have admired his works in yearly expositions in Parisian galleries and at public assemblies such as Exposition Toit de la Grande Arche.
His works are extremely well known in France and Germany and, of course, his native Mexico. Collectors internationally are drawn to Valadez's strong and earthy portrayal of his subjects and life.
Besides his accomplishments as a painter he has also appeared on radio, TV and film in Mexico and France. He has fun with his collectors even down to challenging them to find his signature somewhere in the painting!
Valadez's works were exhibited for the first time in the USA, in 2000, at the Jo-Gi Gallery, Chicago and now exclusively at Jo-Gi Gallery in Naples, FL.
